Hot Disk TPS 1500 Thermal Constant Analyser

The Specific Heat Capacity Module has been created for measurements on conducting materials, solids or semi-solids. Nevertheless, the specific heat capacity measurements can be made on less conducting materials only if the thermal contact between the sample and the cell is the best possible.

Measurements are made with specific sensor and  sample holder. Indeed, sample holder is a sensor with a golden cell attached. To measure, put the sample inside the cell  and insulate the set-up with Styrofoam. The sample must have a reasonably flat contact surface.

Measurement has 2 phases :

Phase n°1 : A base recording is realized with the empty golden cell to determinate its specific heat capacity and warmth losses.

Phase n°2 : A recording is realized with the sample inside cell. Informations on the necessary energy to increase temperature of cell and sample are used for calculation. A linear temperature increase  allows to deduct, with a precision of 5 %, specific heat capacity of sample  from two recordings.

To realize an optimal analysis, the material must be a solid with a  conductivity superior or equal to 2 W/m.K.
