Hot Disk TPS 2500 Thermal Constant Analyser

The Slab Module has been created to analyze high conducting materials such as Silica panes or Silicon Carbide, Aluminium profiles...

The sensor is sandwiched between two slab pieces with a layer from 0.2 to 8 millimeters.

This set-up is insulated on both sides with insulating samples such as polystyrene or stationary air. A continuous electric power is sent in the double spiral.

For the Slab Module, the sent power is between 0.1 and 10 W, the manipulation time is between 1 and 10 s. The sensor diameter is between 1 and 60 millimeters. Of course, these parameters depend on the layer and nature of material .

The insulation obliges the sample to conduct warmth in the radial direction of the sensor. During measurement, the tension evolution inside the spiral is recorded. This tension is proportional to temperature evolution on the sensor surface.

During experimentation, from temperature data, thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and specific heat capacity of the slab are calculated.
