Introduction to TPS Technology :
Nowadays, development of new materials requires precise and fast measurements of physical properties. Sometimes,  it's difficult to find correct valors in documents.

The TPS Technology, or Transient Plane Source, was developed in order to measure thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity on various materials, with a great precision.
Created at the beginning of 90's by Dr Silas Gustavsson, this innovative technology has revolutionized measurements of  thermal properties linked to warmth transfer, in global laboratories and other research institutes.

Indeed, thanks to special TPS sensors, we can realize thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and specific heat capacity measurements with an increased sensibility and precision. They can be made in varying environments and a wide range of temperature. The TPS Technology provides your necessary valors, without the influence of thermal resistance, without samples preparation and in very short time.
Measurement principle :

To realize measurement, place the Hot Disk sensor between two pieces of the sample in question, with parallel faces. The sensor is a warmth transmitter and a temperature sensor.
It's also possible to realize  measurements in an asymmetrical system (only 1 sample to characterize). The sensor is put between a single sample piece and another piece of material, typically Polystyrene, with known thermal transport properties. This option is appropriated to measurements of quality controls .

The principle doesn't change for measurements on liquids, powders, or pastes. The sensor is simply inserted into the material, or pasted on both sides of the probe.

When the set-up of samples is made, entry your parameters in the Hot Disk Analysis software. With only one manipulation, you obtain the exact measurements of thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and specific heat capacity .

Several Industrial Groups, Research Laboratories and prestigious Universities have chosen the TPS technology.
